This is the inaugural post in the blog on my shiny new site JamesMichaelOliver.com. First, I must digress.
JamesMichaelOliver.com is a rather pretentious domain name, doncha think? I have learned through my vast life that author/illustrators need websites, and present company is not excepted. Websites likewise need domain names.
Domain names need to be unsnatched before I can GoDaddy them. Since “James”‘, “Michael”, and “Oliver” are very, very common names in American (and possibly even English…I wouldn’t know), most of the domain names composed of these are already in use. Quite a few of these J.M.O.s are authors, and it behooves me to avoid any confusion with these fine folk.
So. JamesMichaelOliver.com it is, pretentious or not.
I had recently become familiar with WordPress, and their block editor known as Gutenberg (speaking of pretentiousness). I like it, and I like the minimalist themes that seem to be popular these days. So this site looks the way it does because it brings me joy, and I don’t have to code (much) to make it work.
I hope this blog contains many insightful things, few spiteful things, and paucity of crap. No guarantees about any of it.
